Types of Ultimate

A Game for Every Surface
One of the best things about Ultimate is its versatility. While the core rules of passing, scoring, and Spirit of the Game remain exactly the same, the sport adapts beautifully to different environments, seasons, and team sizes.
Whether you prefer sprinting on fresh grass, diving on sand, or the fast paced intensity of a polished sports court, there is a style of Ultimate tailored for you.
Grass Ultimate

The classic, globally recognized outdoor format played on grass. Played with teams of seven on a large field, it showcases big defensive layouts, long-distance throws, and deep tactical strategy.
Beach Ultimate

Played on sand with smaller five-on-five teams. It is highly athletic, slightly softer on the joints when diving for catches, and heavily relies on short, precise passes to beat the coastal wind.
Indoor Ultimate

A rapid-fire version usually played in school gyms or indoor sports centres. With five players a side and walls keeping the disc in play, it features a lightning-fast pace where quick reflexes and short throws are key.
Alternative Variations

From casual park pickup games to unique modified rules designed for youth development or smaller training groups, the game can easily be scaled to fit any space and skill level on pretty much any surface.
